When you write great poems, you are really remembered. This makes as your trademark. Your thoughts are part of your work and describes you. Write freely.

Jenny, I loved Christopher Ricks’s book on Milton when I read it MANY years ago, and you have not only reminded me of my pleasure in his analysis but also helped me understand why I loved it. Wow. What a beautiful essay!

Hyam Plutzik is buried in Old Montefiore Cemetery in the St Albans section of the borough of Queens, New York City. Location: Block 97, Row 6R, Grave 11, at Gate 64 South opposite Block 94. He was buried there after his death on January 8, 1962 at the age of 50.

Plutzik’s monument depicts the word “Poet” prominently inscribed on the cover of a book. Beneath this is the closing line from his poem “Requiem for Edward Carrigh”: “Nothing can be done but something can be said at least.” Full text of the poem here.

2011 marks the centennial of the poet, who was born on July 13, 1911. Please see the Centennial page for information about events and publications.

Would you happen to know where Mr. Plutzik was buried, if he was not cremated?

I have visited the graves of 225 and am now working on documenting those I have missed.
